The October half-term is often a time period when we look to vanish entirely in search of warmer climates but every now and then, we choose to stay in the UK and we are invariably always glad when we do. There’ohydrates no hassle by using parking, no standing in airports, no need for sexual, no lengthy protection checks and no airliner lag. Now we have a puppy, we also didn’t must make arrangements for your ex – instead, he can come with us. For this last half-term most people stayed at Rock Lodge, the gatehouse to the beautiful, privately-owned Combermere Abbey estate. What’ohydrates more, whilst most people obviously weren’t sports shorts and T-shirts at the end of October, we nevertheless enjoyed good – if they are not exceptional – weather to your time of year. Had it ended up cold, we were nevertheless going to be well developed for – our lodging was cosy, was included a real fire during the lounge and a considerable log supply external.

The entrance to the property owner through the back door which often brought us into a well-equipped kitchen, complete with a container of locally-sourced breakfast offerings – bread, Westry Roberts & Co. Farmville farm butter, eggs, field mushrooms, tomoatoes, Pimhill Farm muesli, and Combermere’ersus own windfall apple nuts and freshly-pressed apple juice. While in the fridge were Oxtail & Trotter chipolatas along with bacon.

This was incredibly welcome for our initially morning at the property, saving us the requirement to bring provisions along with us or go shopping the instant we’d arrived. Quite possibly our dog have been thought of – a quilt, bowl and pleasures were all provided.

Next on the floor floor is the living quarters, with two sofas, a real fire, Tv set and DVD battler. A wide selection of over a $ 100 or so DVD titles are around for borrow at no cost when you wish.

Finally on the ground floor is the en suite master bedroom that has a large double sleep and ample hard drive. Free WiFi is accessible throughout the property even so the signal is best in this room (in which the router is situated).

The bathroom has a shower with wet room spot, basin and bathroom and, tucked away powering the door, a model.

Upstairs is a twin-bedded room – that is perfect for our children – and toilet with a bath, pot and lavatory.

Outside is an extensive garden by using fruit trees (oatmeal, plums and damsons), barbq area and backyard furtniture. Owners of dogs (plus young children!) will appreciate the fact that, once you have run into the property edge and closed this gates, the garden seemingly enclosed.

As already mentioned, Piece of rock Lodge is situated on the entrance to Combermere Abbey in addition to guests have access to the property grounds, including nature, the Pleasure Home gardens (where you can let your doggie off the lead) as well as largest privately-owned lake in the country, covering 140 acres.

This is only a limited walk from Rock Lodge, though I’chemical recommend high presence clothing if you’re also walking at night while it’s a reasonably fast road without streets. For those not wanting to leave the house or cook, you can buy homemade freezer dinners from Combermere Abbey.

Combermere is effectively positioned for visiting numerous counties, at the border between Shropshire and also Cheshire, but also not far from Staffordshire plus the border with Wales.
